Our family has traveled to France on three different trips.  Our
first in 2001 (marked in red) we spent a five days in Paris playing
tourist, hitting all of the major sightseeing highlights and four
days relaxing in northern France in Beaufort--day-tripping to the
surrounding countryside and villages. (trip--in and out of Paris)

In 2002 (marked in green), we spent three wonderful days in the
Alsace wine region in eastern France and fell in love with Colmar
and the cute little villages of wine region.  Then we met our
French friends and spent four days on the western coast in
Normandy, learning to love mussels and try new things. (trip into
Munich and out of Caen, France

In 2000 (marked in blue), we explored southern France, home
basing in Sarlat and exploring castles, canoeing the Dordogne
and learning about our ancestors and their 15,000 year old cave
art.  We spent a few days in the walled medieval city of
Carcassonne. We took a four day swing through Provence,
staying in Arles and visiting Avignon, Pont du Gard, and Nimes.
And ended our trip with a week in Nice/Monaco, hitting the
beaches, perfume factories, exploring Nice, Antibes, Monaco, La
Turbie and Grasse  and a quick trip  to Italy's Cinque Terre.
(trip into Toulouse and out of Venice)

We love France!  We love its diversity...go cosmopolitan, visit
Paris, have fun on the Metro and explore museums. However,
get out in the countryside.  Hit those small villages on market day
and grab things for a picnic.  We have explored almost every
region in France but we have saved some for next time!
