| Three trips into the Berner Oberland...and we had avoided Interlaken. Our Mistake. During our trip in 2009, we flew into Zurich...and spent a night in Interlaken before heading up into the Alps. Quaint, fun and pristinely beautiful. You could easily stay a day or two here. |

Katy's B&B Bernastrasse 7 across the street from Migros near the train station Perfect for the overnight stay. www.katys-lodge.ch 033-821-0963 Very simple basic rooms Friendly service |

Restaurant Baren Seestrasse 2 from train stations, turn left on Bahnhofstrasse and go over river one block Classic and traditional regional food Sausages and gravy Rosti Raclette (don't miss this melted swiss cheese dish) and everyone's favorite...fondue |
Hotel Aarburg and Bar Stopped for a quick beer with the locals. Beatenbergstrasse 1 on the river |

| Bahnhofstrasse turns into Hohweg...the main shopping drag. Near the roundabout and post office on Marktgasse...Find the hardware store. We bought Cig water bottles, little Swiss Army pocket knives, picnic supplies, etc....at local, not tourist, prices They even stock real cow bells. |
