Family Travels

Mykonos
Date Last Visited -- 2008
We knew we were out too early
when the only people out were
the locals painting a fresh coat of
whitewash.  We enjoyed walking
the peaceful alleys of
Mykonos....getting hopelessly
lost. We giggled like fools as we
passed these flowers and this
vendor sign at least four times
(we had to take a picture)
Finally we took a break and had
some juice and coffee at a
waterfront cafe

Although known for its wild party nightlife and top beach
destination of young travelers...Mykonos is charming in the
early morning.

Erica and Mom spent the day together and we disembarked
the cruise ship early.  No one was awake...No shops were
opened...Just the locals tending to business.

We must have walked the entire town three times...getting
lost over and over.  Maps are useless, because the rambling
alleys and footpaths, twisting and turning, were designed to
confuse and slow down pirates of old and now tourists alike.

Be persistent.  Ask questions.  Don't leave before finding the
windmills, little Venice and much more.  Don't panic, you have
all day...so get lost. Stop at a local grocery store for some
feta, stop at a street vendor selling gyros, Stop again for
some wine and Dolmados at a little cafe.  Just enjoy.
The shopping is fun, but pricey.  Athens, Rhodes and Turkey
have the bargains.

Just have a great day.

Dad, Amanda and Brent spent the day diving.
We have included some photos. See the Scuba page for more
