"It's the 3 C's Day
Cheese, Castles and Chocolate"
quote by Amanda, age 7
We started out morning at Caillers, a chocolate factory.  After a
very good tour that explains the chocolate making process, you
end in the tasting room or as the kids it, "heaven."
A room filled with chocolates...as many samples as you can eat
Hole in the Wall....Rick Steves' Backdoor Find
You have to try to find this place

8 km above Gruyere in village of Moelson, This 17th
century farmhouse gives cheese making demonstrations
at 10:00 am and 15:00
(Open 9:30-19:00 Sun-Thurs, 9:30-22:00 Sat & Sun)

Then sit outside with the chickens and have some of the
best fondue you will every find....Try the wine too!
Gruyere is a very touristy town. The castle
is said to be mediocre..so we passed on it.
We just shopped the town...bought
cheeses, herbs, soaps and souveniers.

The twisty hallways, dark dungeons,
secret passageways are enough to
fire anyone's medieval imagination.
   --Dad
The castle of Chillon was one of my
favorites.  Built on a lake...not only
was it an extremely awesome castle,
it had a beautiful view.

The highlight of the stop was the retail gift shop.
Yes, those heavy bags are filled with chocolate...
Look at those smiles.

The Chocolate Factory was my favorite place we
went to,.  After the tour, we went to the sample
room.  In the room, there were 7 or 8 tables
spead out with different types of chocolate.  I
made sure to try to taste each one,
sometimes twice, if needed.

Probably the best castle we have been to...We love
Chateau Chillon on Lake Geneva
It is perfectly preserved 13th centruy medieval castle with a
scary dungeon, original weaponry, furniture and
artifacts....complete with a moat and ramparts.

Don't miss this one!
